Japan has robots in just about every flavor you can imagine. There are ‘bots to care for the elderly and ‘bots to cook you ramen. There are even robots to belt out the latest pop tunes.
But what if you prefer your entertainment a little bit more on the traditional side? Well, Japan has a robot for that as well. You guessed that, right?Robot maker Azusa Amino recently won the Robot Japan 2 Dance competition with his 23-centimeter-high Toko Toko Maru robot. In the video below, you can see view his short -- but absolutely stunning -- kabuki dance routine from start to finish.
Just like the real thing, the 'droid's movements are very slow and deliberate, keeping in perfect time with the music.
Dressed in a traditional outfit, Toko Toko Maru also has a pair of diminutive fans which he extends, unfolds, and waves as he dances.
Be sure to stay tuned until the 1:20 mark of the performance when Toko Toko Maru breaks loose and lets off a little steam. Color us impressed.
