The free travel app allows you to find, compare and pay for your accommodation and transportation at your fingertips
It's been estimated that half of Chinese mobile users will carry smartphones, such as iPhone, by the end of 2013.The Chinese-language version of Fotopedia Heritage took the top spot for “Travel App Category in China."
The French-made photo encyclopedia was followed by Qunar's mobile app (去哪儿), which was developed by travel website Qunar.com.
This makes Qunar the best Chinese original travel app of 2011.
According to Tencent, the ranking on Apple’s iTunes Rewind list is based on three criteria: the number of downloads in App Store, users’ ratings and recommendations from industry experts.
Mobile tells you “where to go”
The Qunar mobile app lists airline tickets, hotel deals and holiday packages from China’s major travel websites. It also helps users to track down hotels within 10 kilometers, compares prices and pulls out user comments on those hotels. Users can book tickets and hotel rooms directly through the app.In addition, the free travel app provides up-to-the-minute flight and train timetables and flags out nearby tourist attractions.
Since its launch in 2010, Qunar, whose name means “where to go” in Chinese, has attracted about seven million users.
"Travel needs to be mobile and mobile business is extremely important to the company's overall strategy,” said Qunar CEO Zhuang Chenchao (庄辰超). “Qunar will continue to invest hundreds of millions of dollars in our mobile business."

“We aim to provide a one-stop shop for travelers,” added Larry Chen, vice president of Qunar Mobile Business.
Qunar is the first mobile travel information provider in China to supply applications for all available operating systems, from iOS to Android and Symbian.
Fast-growing mobile Internet market
Qunar’s progress in mobile business is a reflection of China’s fast-growing mobile Internet market.China's mobile Internet users reached 303 million in April 2011, and the number of mobile phone app downloads is expected to surpass 20 billion by 2013.
According to Chinese market research firm Analysys International, the number of China's mobile Internet users will reach 500 million by 2012, surpassing the number of PC Internet users.
Qunar.com is China’s biggest travel site. It accounts for 42 percent of the overall traffic to Chinese travel sites, followed by Kuxun and Ctrip.
The Beijing-based technology company attracted an investment of more than US$306 million from China’s biggest search engine Baidu in June 2011.
