Though her father-in-law Amitabh broke the news last night (June 21), how long 38-year-old Indian actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has been pregnant is not officially known.

Writes the senior Bachchan on his blog, "The doctors just confirmed it this evening (June 21) and I have shared it immediately with the EF and on Twitter after informing all the family, now spread out in various parts of the world."

Popular film magazine Stardust today writes, "Sources close to Bachchan family reveal that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s pregnancy test was done at Seven Hills Hospital in Andheri to confirm the news. However, Aishwarya Rai, being a true professional, wants to complete the shooting of Madhur Bhandarkar’s ambitious flick "Heroine" before going on a long holiday to enjoy the impending motherhood."

Fans and Bollywood trade pundits are already speculating about a Christmas baby.

Their logic is this: In India, traditionally you don't announce a pregnancy until the three month period is past. So that's April, May, June. And six months later is December.
