..Nobody tell Hanna-Barbera, but a resort in Thailand’s lovely Ratchaburi province gives travelers a chance to sleep inside "villas" shaped like Flintstones characters.

About two-and-a-half hours' drive southwest of Bangkok, Suan Peung Resort is modeled after the prehistoric cartoon town of Bedrock, home to the characters of "The Flintstones" cartoon.

Guests can stay inside buildings shaped like Fred, Wilma, Barney, Betty and Dino. There’s also a “stone house,” a rock house and some smaller cabins made out of teak.

Suan Pheung Resort even has a “Bamm Bamm” restaurant, though unfortunately there aren’t any brontosaurus burgers on the menu. Just Thai fare and drinks.

Rates start from 3,500 baht (US$110) per night for the stone house. A night in the Betty house is 5,000 baht (US$160) while a night with Fred is 6,500 baht (US$207). The largest unit is Dino, which goes for 12,000 baht (US$383) per night and sleeps six.

One warning. It's not the place to go for peace and quiet, despite being surrounded by the gorgeous hills of Ratchaburi.

The resort has become something of a local tourist attraction. On a recent long weekend visit, the place was overrun by camera-toting Thais posing all over the place for photos in front of the wacky villas.

Getting there

Unfortunately Trans-Pterodactyl Airlines doesn’t exist. The easiest way to get there is by bus. Click here for a PDF map, which is in Thai.

From Bangkok's Southern Bus Terminal, catch one of the buses that heads regularly to downtown Ratchburi. From Ratchaburi, go to the Sin Rae Siam Bus Terminal and take a bus to the resort.
